Becoming an Advisor
Volunteer to mentor high school students in your community.
Studies have shown that help and encouragement from a caring, trusted adult can be a prime factor in determining whether a student will pursue postsecondary education. As an ASPIRE advisor, you will fill a unique role in the life of a student; an adult who is there solely to help guide and assist them in pursuing education beyond high school.
Your relationship will develop as you learn from and about each other. You will both discover things you have in common and those which make you distinct from each other. Age, ethnicity, cultural background, language, and personal interests are just some of the factors that may shape your advisor/student relationship.
