Orientation and Training
Volunteer to mentor high school students in your community.
Several opportunities are offered to volunteer advisors to assist them in a successful
volunteer experience.
Intro to ASPIRE
All volunteer are provided an "Intro to ASPIRE" orientation session, which
informs advisors of ASPIRE program goals, policies, and curriculum as well as school
specific policies and resources.
Fall Conferences
Each Fall, ASPIRE staff and volunteers from throughout the state attend a one-day
conference designed to allow participants to expand their knowledge of the ASPIRE
program, network with other ASPIRE staff and volunteers, as well as explore post-secondary
options for Oregon students. Experts present workshops on a variety of topics that
pertain to the work of ASPIRE Advisors. Past workshops topics have included:
- ACT and SAT training
- Writing winning scholarship essays
- Technical/vocational training programs in Oregon
- Best practices from experienced ASPIRE Coordinator working in successful ASPIRE
programs
