Membership/Employee Programs

Scholarships Requiring Membership or Employee Relationship

Most scholarships in Section Three require you to be a member or employee (or the dependent or close relative of a member or employee) of the sponsoring organization: an 'M' icon is displayed before the membership/employer requirement in the scholarship catalog.

To qualify for these scholarships, you must provide the following information into the “Membership/Employee” section of the application for each member/employer scholarship you apply for (enough information to uniquely identify the member/employee:

  • Membership/employee’s full name and the last four digits of the SSN or employee/member ID for the person whose membership (or employment) qualifies you to be considered for the scholarship
  • Worksite full name
  • Worksite city and state
  • Qualifying member/employee relationship to you (for example: mother, father, self)

A few of the scholarships in Section Three require specialized information be entered into this section (e.g., such as name of vessel, credit union, branch of service, or electric service's street address).  Read the descriptor for each program you apply for to make sure you have entered what is needed.

Scholarship Prefering (Not Requiring) Membership or Employee Relationship

For the few scholarships that don’t require you to be a member or employee (or the dependent or close relative of a member or employee) of the sponsoring organization), a preference is shown for membership or employee status: a 'P' icon is displayed before the membership/employer requirement in the scholarship catalog. You will have to indicate that you qualify for the scholarship in a way other than membership/employer information.
